Rodney baier, sandy springs

As a renowned local dental practice offering a full range of restorative procedures and TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) therapy, Rodney Baier, DDS’s new range of cosmetic dentistry treatments, including teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and bonding, is designed to boost patients’ confidence by efficiently enhancing the appearance of their smiles.

“Having my wisdom teeth removed in my 20s sparked my commitment to helping people live better lives through better dental health,” said Dr. Rodney Baier, DDS. “I have an undergraduate degree in marketing and was working in sales when I visited a friend—a dentist—in Miami to have my wisdom teeth removed. I spent the entire day at his office and was amazed by the level of care he provided his patients in a friendly office environment. I immediately decided I wanted to help others and become a dentist, and I began taking the required science courses for entry into dental school.”

Committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive dental care to individuals and families in Sandy Springs and nearby areas, Rodney Baier, DDS, takes the time to learn about a patient’s oral health goals before working with them to decide on the perfect treatment customized to meet their personal needs.

Combining this caring approach with Dr. Baier’s expert dental knowledge, patients can trust the highly-rated dental practice to help them attain a bright, radiant smile with its excellent cosmetic dentistry services. These include:

  • Porcelain Veneers: Porcelain veneers can cover surface flaws on a patient’s teeth and restore or enhance tooth color. Dr. Baier also uses this technique to help reshape teeth for a better smile. Today’s veneers allow him to preserve as much of the original tooth as possible and bond more strongly than veneers from just a few years ago. They are more color-fast, giving patients a more natural, longer-lasting treatment.
  • Whitening: Rodney Baier, DDS, will consider the health of a patient’s teeth and the extent of the staining before prescribing the best professional whitening products to restore the beautiful shine of a smile.
  • Bonding and Contouring: Contouring, or reshaping, is used to correct crooked teeth, chipped teeth, cracked teeth, or even overlapping teeth in just one session. Bonding can close gaps, repair chips and cracks, and protect exposed roots to alleviate pain for the patient.
  • Invisible Braces: As a renowned dentist in Georgia, Rodney Baier, DDS, offers patients the opportunity to straighten their teeth with a series of clear, plastic aligners that provide a more comfortable and convenient solution compared to traditional metal braces.

Available online 24/7, Rodney Baier, DDS, invites those in the Sandy Springs community to contact his friendly team today via telephone or email to schedule an appointment.

Tend Continues Nationwide Expansion With Openings in Boston and Atlanta https://www.dentistrytoday.com/tend-continues-nationwide-expansion-with-openings-in-boston-and-atlanta/ Thu, 16 Dec 2021 08:11:09 +0000 https://www.dentistrytoday.com/?p=92594 tend

Tend, the first dentist that people actually look forward to, announced its debut in Boston and Atlanta, closing out a year of unprecedented growth for the company.

Three new locations in the two cities add to the company’s strong presence on the East Coast, where they currently operate in New York and Washington, DC. With the regional expansion, Tend now operates 19 locations up and down the East Coast, enabling its patients to visit the dentist across over 1,000 miles, and four major metro markets.

“We are thrilled to introduce a completely reimagined way to experience dentistry to two new cities, delivering high-quality care with top-rated clinicians in beautiful, modern spaces,” said Doug Hudson, Founding CEO of Tend. “Throughout the last year, we’ve proven that dentistry is a durable retail model, and as we continue a year of fast-paced growth throughout the country, we look forward to serving new patients, as well as existing members of the Tend family across multiple cities.”

Since launching in 2019, Tend has set a new standard for dentistry for tens of thousands of members with a modern approach to oral healthcare that combines hospitality and technology with patient experience. To keep up with the company’s growth and patient demand over the last year, Tend has more than doubled its team to over 500 employees.

“Throughout this year, growing the Tend team to help support our growth has been a joyride. We look forward to bringing our mission of patient-centered oral health to Boston and Atlanta, and to serve as a supportive, progressive employer for the dental communities in both cities,” said Dr. Chris Salierno, Chief Dental Officer at Tend.

Tend’s new market entries follow the company’s successful launch in Washington, DC this summer, when the company opened five studios in the city to local excitement and high demand. Beloved for modern and design-driven studios that employ state-of-the-art technology, convenient online booking, price transparency, top-rated clinicians, and an unprecedented variety of comfort amenities such as streaming entertainment, noise-cancelling headphones, and premium brush bags to take home, Tend has cultivated a member base that has almost quadrupled over the past year.

Along with the three new studios, located at 12 Post Office Square and 5 Broad Canal Way in Boston, and in Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Tend will continue its expansion with several locations — as well as additional market entries  — in 2022.

About Tend

Ratchford to Retire from Hinman Dental Meeting https://www.dentistrytoday.com/ratchford-to-retire-from-hinman-dental-meeting/ Thu, 24 Sep 2020 13:06:08 +0000 https://www.dentistrytoday.com/?p=61219

Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting executive director Sylvia Ratchford will retire in May 2021, following her twenty-fifth Hinman Dental Meeting. Ratchford has led the Hinman Dental Meeting and Hinman Dental Society since 1996. She will continue to serve in the role in some capacity through May alongside her successor, Annette Sullivan, who has been named incoming executive director.

During Ratchford’s tenure, the organization said, it achieved many accomplishments including:

  • Growing the Hinman Dental Meeting to its peak of more than 23,000 attendees and more than 430 exhibiting companies
  • Elevating Hinman to be consistently one of Atlanta’s top 10 professional conferences, contributing an average of nearly $20 million annually to the local economy
  • Expanding the Hinman Dental Society’s membership to more than 800 dentists who volunteer their time to ensure the success of the Annual Meeting
  • Establishing Hinman Dental Society fellowships and scholarships over the past 20 years that have contributed more than $10 million in support of dental education and have benefitted countless students at universities throughout the Southeast

“For the past 24 years, Sylvia has been the lifeblood of Hinman and has played a very critical role in making Hinman the success it is today. She has been a tremendous leader who has been instrumental in growing Hinman and maintaining its position as the premier dental meeting in the country,” said Dr. L. Maxwell Ferguson, chair of the Hinman Board of Trustees.

“We are sad to see her retire, but greatly appreciate her many contributions over the years, including the capable team she has developed. We are fortunate that she is able to stay on through May to work alongside and share her experience with Annette,” Ferguson said.

Ratchford has more than 40 years of experience in the hospitality, meeting planning, and association management industries. Previously, she worked in sales management for nine years at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. She then worked for another nine years at AmericasMart, including the pre-opening of INFORUM, where she was responsible for the marketing and sales of the exhibits and meeting space in all four buildings.

Also, Ratchford has served on the board of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau and as president of the Southeastern Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association. She is a longtime member of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events as well. She holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Georgia.

“The past 24 years have been a blessing for me both professionally and personally. My hope is that the many relationships I’ve formed with colleagues and friends, as a result of Hinman and my career in Atlanta, will be lifelong,” Ratchford said.

“Annette is well respected in the Atlanta hospitality community, and I feel confident that Hinman is in very capable hands going forward. I know that the Hinman leadership, members, and staff will support her as well as they have me over the years,” Ratchford said.

A native of Atlanta, Sullivan began working full-time for Hinman this month with the goal of transitioning many of Ratchford’s duties by the end of the year. She brings more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality and meeting planning industry. Most recently, she was a member of the national convention sales team at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Also, Sullivan has worked on the sales team for the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau and spent 10 years in Washington, DC, working with associations. She worked for the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau and Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau as well. Prior to working in sales, she served in management roles with the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses and Associated Builders & Contractors.

“We are thrilled to have Annette join Hinman as our new executive director and lead the meeting into the future. Her experience and unique perspective will play an important role in positioning Hinman for years to come,” said Dr. J. Sedgie Newsom, president of the Hinman Dental Society.

“While she certainly has big shoes to fill, we are confident that Annette has the expertise to guide and shape Hinman and successfully navigate the challenges that the pandemic has created,” Newsom said.

Sullivan holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern Methodist University and has been very involved in professional associations and charitable associations in both Atlanta and Washington, DC, Hinman said.

Additionally, Hinman has promoted Lynn Leidel to director of meetings and education. She will assume additional responsibilities that will aid in the transitioning of executive directors. She has been with Hinman for more than 16 years, most recently as senior meetings and education manager.

Leidel is responsible for building and executing the continuing education program for the Hinman Dental Meeting, often coordinating more than 300 courses and more than 80 speakers each year, Hinman said. She also manages the production of Hinman’s publications, special events, and training of volunteer committees.

Before joining Hinman, Leidel worked for the Georgia Lottery Corporation for more than five years. She is a Certified Meeting Planner and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Florida State University.

Planning is currently underway for the 2021 Hinman Dental Meeting, which will be held March 11 through March 13. The educational program, speakers, and events scheduled for the 2020 meeting will be moved to the 2021 meeting.

Hinman 2020 Cancelled https://www.dentistrytoday.com/hinman-2020-cancelled/ Thu, 12 Mar 2020 13:29:22 +0000 https://www.dentistrytoday.com/?p=59293

The Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting, originally scheduled for March 19 to 21 at the Georgia World Congress Center and Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, has been cancelled due to the growing number of COVID-19 concerns domestically and abroad.

“It was a very difficult decision to make, as we know it affects thousands of attendees and industry professionals who were planning to attend the meeting next week. But, the health, safety, and well-being of our attendees, exhibitors, speakers, and members are our highest priorities,” said Dr. Bob O’Donnell, general chair of Hinman 2020.

“Our concern is not only for the health of everyone involved, but also the quality of event that we can deliver with the current logistical challenges we are facing. Hinman’s goal has always been to provide world-class continuing education and exhibits, and in the current climate, we will not be able to provide the experience that our attendees have come to expect from our organization,” O’Donnell said.

The Hinman Meeting typically attracts more than 20,000 dentists, hygienists, assistants, students, and other dental professionals and industry personnel to Atlanta. Also, more than 400 companies exhibit at the conference. This is the third time in its 108-year history that the meeting has been cancelled.

In 1931, the meeting was cancelled out of respect for the death of its founder, prominent Atlanta dentist Dr. Thomas P. Hinman. In 1933, the meeting was cancelled due to the Great Depression. In 2008, it closed a day early due to a tornado that struck the city.

Hinman’s organizers say they have been closely monitoring the situation, reviewing daily the recommendations provided by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization as well as guidance from local government and health officials.

Many academic centers, health systems, and businesses have issued notices that do not allow for domestic travel. These travel bans and restrictions have had a direct impact on Hinman’s educational sessions and exhibits, its organizers report.

“Unfortunately, it left us no choice and it became very clear that we must move the meeting to a later date. It’s simply the right thing to do,” said O’Donnell. “And, of course, we couldn’t live with ourselves if even one attendee was at risk.”

Hinman will share with registered attendees and exhibitors its plans for the 2020 program on its website and social media pages in the coming days. Information regarding refunds will be posted as well. For more information, call (404) 231-1663.

Fighter Pilot to Headline Hinman Dental Meeting https://www.dentistrytoday.com/fighter-pilot-to-headline-hinman-dental-meeting/ Fri, 12 Jul 2019 13:00:58 +0000 https://www.dentistrytoday.com/?p=57148

The Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting will be held at the George World Congress Center in Atlanta from March 19 to March 21, 2020. Air Force Colonel (Ret.) Nicole Malachowski, one of the first women to fly modern fighters in combat, will be the featured keynote speaker on March 19.

“We have an outstanding program lined up for Hinman 2020 with the theme ‘Come Home to Hinman—Where Teamwork Meets Success.’ It promises to be one big homecoming event dedicated to improving skills, expanding capabilities, and collaborating with colleagues and your dental team to achieve success,” said Dr. Bob O’Donnell, general chair.

“We are also excited to feature Col. Nicole Malachowski as our keynote speaker this year. She was not only a jet fighter pilot, but also became the first woman pilot on the Thunderbirds Air Demonstration Squadron and defied odds to forge a successful path through many cultural changes in the military,” said O’Donnell.

Malachowski served more than 21 years as an officer, leader, and fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. She was a mission-ready fighter pilot in three operational F-15E squadrons and accumulated more than 2,300 flight hours, including 188 hours in combat. She also served as commander of a fighter squadron, was the first female Thunderbird pilot, served as a White House Fellow, and is a member of the Women in Aviation International Pioneer Hall of Fame.

However, Malachowski’s career ended when she contracted a tick-borne illness that left her unable to speak or walk for 10 months. She fought back against the disease and now draws on stories from her career and personal life to inspire others to rethink the challenges they face every day, Hinman’s organizers report.

In addition to the keynote session, Hinman 2020 has a full slate of educational lectures and workshops presented by the best and brightest in the dental profession. Many new speakers, as well as dentistry’s favorites, will be at Hinman 2020,” added O’Donnell.

Confirmed speakers include Dr. Gordon Christensen, Ms. Susan Gunn, Dr. Henry Gremillion, Dr. Mel Hawkins, Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, Dr. Samson Ng, Dr. Uche Odiatu, Ms. Laci Phillips, Drs. Robert and Bobbi Stanley, Dr. “Sully” Sullivan, and Ms. Rachel Wall. Hinman 2020 also will feature nearly 400 companies in its exhibit hall. Registration will open on December 10.
